Duration of Drill: 8 minutes
Purpose Of Drill:

To work on releasing a quality shot quickly after receiving a pass.

Drill Components:

pucks, 2 cones

Drill Steps:
StepDescription
1
As player skates towards first cone, coach passes him/her a puck.

2
Player must receive the pass before the first cone, and then release a quality shot before the second cone.

Coaching Notes:

Make sure players are skating full speed, and shooting in stride. The point of the drill is to force players to receive a pass, and release a shot as quickly as possible, so adjust cones as necessary to challenge players. Adjust distance from net based on age and skill of players.

Player Notes:

Make sure to skate full speed, and focus on getting off a QUALITY shot/scoring chance.

Parent Notes:

This is a great drill for working on receiving a pass and releasing a shot very quickly. Players should focus on skating full speed, and shooting in stride.
